Job Description:

The Senior Derivatives Analyst is a member of the Derivatives Operations team, responsible for working closely with both internal and external teams in order to develop processes and provide recommendations. The successful individual will bring leadership and participate in developing business models, implementing applications, lead implementation of projects, provide training to the team, and provide input to policies and procedures documents. They will work closely with their leader to identify process efficiency to allow for effective processing.


The Senior Derivatives Analyst will act as subject matter expert with respect to existing and emerging regulatory requirements related to derivatives and their impact on processing requirements. They will also bring knowledge of the interpretation of derivatives contracts and their impact on the client from a risk, profitability, and process prospective. Work with internal and external legal counsel to formulate new agreements or amendments.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate closely with internal and external teams to devise processes and propose recommendations.
  • Provide operational support, maintenance, and training when introducing a new business model or process.
  • Analyze derivative contracts and their effects on AIMCo concerning risk, profitability, and process.
  • Work alongside internal and external legal counsel to develop new agreements or amendments.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of over-the-counter and cleared derivatives to support and advise on operational processes.
  • Analyze current procedures to address system defects and identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement solutions that capitalize on these efficiencies while adhering to and improving current internal controls.
  • Analysis of legal documentation pertaining to each derivative trade to ensure terms and obligations are as negotiated and conforms to ISDA documentation structure and definitions.
  • Confirming and affirming trades with dealers to ensure economic and legal agreement of trades executed.
  • Understand the structure of ISDA documentation, be able to follow and interpret legal definitions and terms in ISDA confirmations.
  • Liaise with front office to ensure the right decisions are made for business risk. Add value by proactively providing research, examples, and data.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely verification of derivatives by verifying terms and details of derivatives products.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Derivatives Operations or a similar role.
  • Advanced knowledge of over-the-counter and cleared derivatives.
  • Ability to interpret and apply existing and emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with various types of investment products, particularly complex derivative investments
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Clear and concise communication and collaboration skills
  • Project management and process improvement mindset
