The Role

NHS Lanarkshire has an opportunity for a Registered Nurse qualified in Mental Health. You will be responsible for the application of the Framework of the Nursing Process to deliver high standards of client / patient nursing care for patients with a range of mental disorders, substance misuse, learning disability or co-morbidity, under the clinical supervision of the caseload holder / charge nurse / team leader, senior charge nurse or practitioner. The registered nurse has delegated responsibility for the appraisal and clinical supervision of students and clinical / healthcare support workers in provision of care and treatment within a defined clinical service, under the management and leadership of the team leader / senior charge nurse or practitioner.

What we'll need you to bring

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
  • Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
  • Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence and access to vehicle essential for community posts
  • Prepared to work flexible hours including rostered weekend shifts

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • Evidence of continuous professional development/further education
  • Up to date with NHS mandatory training
  • Extensive years post registration experience within Mental Health Nursing
  • Demonstrate evidence based practice
  • Knowledge of community nurse role
  • Knowledge of IT systems used within community

Contract type

Fixed Term or Secondment - 12 months

Full time

37 hours

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Older Adult Community Mental Health within the Airdrie Locality

The working pattern for this role is 24/7
