The Alberta New Democratic Party (NDP) is hiring a visionary and strategic Executive Director to lead the organization through a critical period of growth and preparation ahead of the 2027 provincial election. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in shaping the future of progressive politics in Alberta.


Location: Edmonton, Alberta (In-office required; travel across Alberta)

Salary: $140,000 to $160,000 annually

Position Type: Full-time, permanent

Benefits: Excellent benefits package, payment in lieu of pension, car allowance, and per diems


As the Party’s chief administrative and strategic officer, the Executive Director is responsible for driving organizational success, maintaining financial and operational health, and ensuring seamless coordination across all functions — from campaign readiness to compliance, organizing to fundraising.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and implement the direction set by the Leader and Provincial Executive.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, staff performance, and organizational sustainability.
  • Build strong relationships with MLAs, riding associations, donors, and key partners.
  • Collaborate with the Campaign Manager to ensure election readiness across all 87 ridings.
  • Support Party governance, conventions, and internal processes.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with Elections Alberta.
  • Partner with the Director of Development to grow fundraising capacity.


Who You Are

  • A seasoned leader (7–10 years in politics, advocacy, or the non-profit sector).
  • An experienced campaign strategist with a deep understanding of political operations.
  • Skilled at managing high-level relationships and internal teams.
  • Aligned with the values and mission of Alberta NDP.
  • Knowledgeable about Alberta’s political landscape, NDP structures, and electoral dynamics.
  • Tech-savvy and familiar with CRMs, political databases (e.g., NationBuilder, VAN), and compliance frameworks.


Assets

  • Experience in unionized workplaces.
  • Fluency in French or other languages spoken in Alberta.
  • Proven ability to lead in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
