Role:
To support and work with Plant Operations Manager; to lead, mentor and coach maintenance team, providing daily communication to all shifts, ensuring that details of every operation are properly recorded in appropriate logbooks, by technicians on duty and in compliance with plant specific SOP’s. The role will foster a strong team dynamic and spirit of cooperation. It will be necessary to have constructive liaison with other departments to determine any repairs that need to be carried out

Role:

Responsibilities
- A strong leader responsible for coaching, mentoring, performance managing and providing technical support and training, i.e. SOP’s, trouble shooting, PM checks
- Ensure implementation of, oversee and adjust as required a detailed Preventive Maintenance Program
- Ensure frequent inspections of equipment and safety procedures shall be conducted to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Responsible for ensuring the proper lubrication and supplies are available for the refrigeration plant and boiler chemicals etc. with communication to the Plant Manager.
- Monitor boiler chemical treatment with outside service provider
- Participate in all regulatory boiler and refrigeration inspections
- Waste oil drained derived from the refrigeration plant is disposed of in accordance with plant SOP’s.
- Manage, design & implement capital projects
- Provide ROI and summary for proposed capital spending or continuous improvement
- Bring forth new ideas to improve on existing production processes
- Deficiencies in plant operations shall be monitored and those that can be performed safely and by qualified staff are carried out quickly and those that require outside contractors that requests communicated with the Plant Operations Manager.
- Ensure an emergency crew is trained in case of accidental release of Ammonia or other disasters which may require emergency response teams to respond to the plant. They shall be familiar with emergency procedures shutoff valves etc. and have a good working knowledge of the plant to liaise with these outside departments.
- Conduct regular inspections on safety equipment and PPE to ensure they are stored properly, have not expired and any deficiencies communicated to the plant maintenance manager immediately.
- Ensure yearly code inspection certificates are acquired (Elec. permit, Boiler inspections, Fire Alarm Inspection etc.)
- Ensure system for timely completion of Maintenance Repairs, Reports and Minor Production Improvements
- Report machine efficient operation – shift incidents/performance to team
- Ensure that SOP’s are reviewed so as to be up to date and all engineers are familiar with changes.
- Ensure training is up to date, fit tests, ammonia detectors, safety devices and safety related training i.e.: WMMIS, Blade handling, Lock out, Power tools, etc.
- 5-7 years leadership in manufacturing facility (maintenance department) with the ability to demonstrate a commitment to professional development is desirable
- Minimum 4th class power engineering ticket/Millwright or Electrical ticket preferred
- Must have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and handle a high volume of work with accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, as well as being a strong team player.
- Strong customer service orientation skills and a desire to achieve results.
- Able to work flexible shifts when business needs arise.
- Ability to build, lead and develop the Maintenance Team.
- Mechanically inclined and have manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Experience with computerized Maintenance systems is an asset.
- Intermediate level of computer skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work and maintain composure under pressure, meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills to share ideas and influence others, including senior management, based on data analysis.
- Ability to implement new operational strategies and learn how to achieve successful strategic change and innovation.
