Data Analyst:

On behalf of our Insurance industry client, Procom is searching for a Data Analyst for a permanent role. This position is a remote position located in Toronto.


Data Analyst - Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our team and support Canadian insurers in fighting fraud through advanced analytics and intelligence best practices. The role involves collecting, processing, and analyzing data to inform business decisions and enhance cross-insurer investigations.


Data Analyst - Responsibilities:

  • Collect data from various sources including databases, APIs, and external datasets.
  • Clean and preprocess data to ensure its quality and integrity.
  • Maintain and update data systems and databases.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Perform statistical analysis and hypothesis testing.
  • Develop and apply data models and algorithms to solve business problems.
  • Create detailed reports and dashboards to present data insights to stakeholders.
  • Use data visualization tools to illustrate complex data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Generate ad hoc reports as needed by different departments.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Train and mentor junior data analysts on best practices and analytical techniques.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in data analytics.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to existing data analysis processes.
  • Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to enhance data analysis and predictive analytics capabilities.


Data Analyst - Mandatory Skills:

  • A university degree in the field of STEM.
  • 5+ years of combined experience in data science, data analysis, and/or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with Tableau.
  • Strong experience with Agile tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data modeling.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL for querying databases.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.


Data Analyst – Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and tools.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • A strong analytical mindset coupled with the capacity to convert business needs into technical specifications and vice versa.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a friendly, collaborative attitude.
  • Comfortable and excels within a remote work environment.
