A day in the life of a Total Quality Manager
Nespresso Quality Management System
- Drive quality in products and services, and compliance in safety, health, environment standards
- Ensure that the Nespresso Quality Management System is consistently aligned with Head Quarter, communicated and implemented in the market
- Oversee the implementation of the One Management System (ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 45000/ NQMS)
- Lead and oversee the Management Review of Quality
- Ensure that the system is regularly updated and reviewed to ensure continuous improvement
- Ensure certification and verification audits are passed and ensure that actions are followed up
- Ensure safety, health, and environmental compliance with local legislation
- Drive environmental initiatives in line with Nestlé strategy and standards
- Works in partnership with Nestle and Head Quarter regulatory team responsible to ensure regulatory applications are properly in place (either for Health Canada or for international regulatory agencies) to achieve Nespresso organizational objectives.
- Responsible to manage Nespresso License and registration with Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Inspection agency,
- Conduct reviews of product and manufacturing changes for compliance with applicable regulations.
- Acts as a regulatory representative on product development teams, communicates regulatory requirements and impact of regulations to the development team.
- Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Define, implement, support, enforce and promote Nespresso Canada’s workplace health and safety policy and zero accident, implement corporate vision for market objectives.
- Provide vision for Quality Health and Safety /Wellness teams, to drive organization on Safety Culture
- Drive strategic initiatives leading to continuous improvement in SHE performance in line with the Nestlé Continuous Excellence mindset.
- Provide input to define the local business strategy, for strategic decisions, company priority setting and overall efficiency of the operations
- Oversee security practices that ensure compliance with the company, regulatory, legal and ethical policies and requirements
- Ensure effective execution of the physical security and protection programs, policies and practices, including the conduct of security audits across head office and boutique teams
- Lead consultations with internal and external stakeholders, (Nestle, Nespresso, Head Quarter, external expertise) to develop and implement strategic business plans to reduce risks/exposures related to physical security and protection
- Identify emerging security issues and trends to inform decision-making
- Review and sign-off on the security design for all significant security and building projects, monitor project completion relating to the designs, and perform final inspection for selected projects against the original security goals
- Conduct unbiased and timely investigations,
- Implement the Nespresso crisis management system and verify its efficiency.
- Lead the crisis committee for all other incidents
- Lead the follow-up of crises in relation with Quality, Safety, Health, Environment and technical issues team.
- Develop and execute long-term strategies for environmental sustainability, waste reduction, and circular economy initiatives.
- Lead the strategic direction with business teams Integrate sustainability into core business functions through collaboration with operations, procurement, Research & Development, and marketing.
- Oversee key environmental programs including Recycling & Waste Diversion
- Ensure regulatory compliance and advance zero-waste initiatives.
- Environmental Compliance: Manage reporting, risk mitigation, and adherence to environmental regulations.
- Drive the organization’s business results by making tactical and operational decisions by building the department in a sustainable way
- Define and drive the right initiatives to achieve business results
- Develop business cases by making optimal investments and decisions in the Operational Planning (OP) process for both CAPEX and OPEX
- Overall Accountability for the OP budget for Total Quality Management: forecast, elevating opportunities and risks within the subdepartment (Quality Safety Security Health environment)
- Attract and retain talent, develop the personal effectiveness of employees by regular coaching and implementation of learning activities
- Build a strong team where team members collaborate effectively and understand their shared goals and purpose
- Set individual performance goals that provide a clear line of sight to organizational priorities and monitor progress towards achievement of goals by using the Personal Development Plan methodology
- Lead by example in terms of behaviors and safety leadership
- Bilingualism in English and French language skills are a requirement, as this position requires collaboration with stakeholders across the Canadian market and/or worldwide.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Technical, Food Technology, Food Science, Environment or Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience in Technical, Food Science or Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience leading a team.
- Knowledge of After sales Service
- Proven track record in delivering results by working with cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated capability to lead projects and change management
- Knowledge of Quality Management / Safety Health and Environment
- Demonstrated management capability including ability to lead, coach, engage and influence.
- Management exposure across several functions is an asset
- Knowledge of Nespresso Machine is an asset
