Job Summary:

Just Energy is seeking candidates for a Senior Quantitative Analyst in our Houston, TX office. This position is responsible for analytical modelling of wholesale and retail energy market data and conducting market research which supports pricing/structuring activities for Just Energy’s Electricity and Gas markets. By developing and maintaining Excel/SQL models to support retail pricing decisions, monitoring industry trends and identify/resolve data leakage and inefficiency, the Senior Quantitative Analyst helps to define and manifest Just Energy’s pricing strategy in the marketplace.

This position requires critical-thinking and creative problem-solving skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a customer-service mindset. This position reports to the Director of Power Structuring and working closely with the Director of Commercial Pricing and the general Structuring team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design / maintain / troubleshoot Electricity / Gas pricing and analytical models in Excel/SQL
  • Work closely with IT Systems / developers to ensure the calculation logic is accurately reflected in various automated pricing engines
  • Build processes and checks to identify data integrity issues or leakage, and create resolution plans and address them
  • Perform quantitative analysis to closely track customer behavior and market trends
  • Review ISO Market structures / mechanics and ensure models reflect best practices and corporate views
  • Interact with Supply, Load Forecasting, Operations, Finance, IT, and Risk (as needed) on in-depth cross functional investigation or research projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative analysis or related field
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong Excel modelling and VBA skills, and Fluent in SQL querying / development
  • Experience with developing advanced pricing models and risk management related to retail energy is a plus.
  • Strong business acumen, attention to detail, problem solving skills, and data-driven decision-making capabilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be well-organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment.
  • 5-10 years of relevant wholesale or retail energy experience.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative analysis or related field
