Overview

Under the supervision of the Exhibits and Inventory Supervisor, an incumbent is responsible for receiving, checking, maintaining, recording, storing and issuing a variety of supplies, materials and equipment; assembling, packing and transporting (or arranging transportation of) goods and materials; performs inventory counts and investigates discrepancies; maintains adequate stock levels; and maintains facility in a clean, orderly and secure and safe conditions. Employee exercises independence of judgement and action within established guidelines, referring more complex or policy matters to Supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of completeness, accuracy and effectiveness of services rendered.

Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Receives, checks, maintains, records, stores and issues a variety of general supplies, materials and equipment including but not limited to operational equipment such as firearms, CEWs and ammunition, and other operational equipment; maintains and processes storekeeping records such as inventory records; balances inventory level to computer and paper records; queries the system to obtain information on location, stock on hand, delivery dates, pricing and other product information.
  • Maintains adequate stock levels according to known or anticipated demands, creates requisitions for long standing or previously identified sources and orders replacement stock according to established procedures.
  • Assists in performing inventory counts at several locations; maintains several storage facilities in a clean, orderly, secure and safe condition.
  • Provides information and assistance to various sections regarding products, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Assembles, packs, and transports (or arranges transport) of goods and materials.
  • Performs related work and other duties, as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Sound knowledge of modern storekeeping methods and procedures involving receiving, recording, maintaining and issuing various policing supplies.
  • Sound knowledge of the various types and uses of supplies and equipment required by sections served.
  • Some knowledge of ordering methods and procedures.
  • Ability to issue, maintain, check and receive supplies and to perform related clerical recordkeeping tasks manually or using a computer terminal.
  • Ability to use software systems used in the work, as required.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and external contacts.
  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to permit handling heavy items up to 25kg.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by up to one year of additional courses in Business or computer courses.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience and knowledge of inventory control software.
  • Canadian Firearms Safety Course.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance.

Working Conditions:

  • Several shifts are available and the candidate will need to be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • The majority of this position will be located in an office environment.
