Purpose of Role:
Weir Motion Metrics is seeking a passionate Machine Learning Quality Assurance Engineer to help deliver impactful computer vision and machine learning solutions to our customers. In this role, you’ll work closely with data scientists and developers to monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve the performance of our AI product lines deployed across both cloud and edge platforms. Our AI team operates across the full development spectrum—from research to production, edge to cloud, and rapid prototyping to scalable productization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Maintain Monitoring Pipelines: Build and support pipelines to monitor algorithm performance in development, staging, and production environments, collecting out-of-distribution data and tracking performance improvements under the guidance of the QA Lead.
  • Contribute to ML Development Projects: Actively participate in machine learning development projects by providing insights from performance monitoring, data analysis, and testing to improve algorithm quality and functionality, collaborating with data scientists and developers under the QA Lead’s direction.
  • Identify and Address Production Issues: Analyze production environments to detect failure points, propose improvement plans, and contribute to prioritizing development tasks to enhance AI solution reliability, reporting findings to the QA Lead.
  • Create Tools and Pipelines: Write scripts and develop automated workflows for data analysis, benchmarking, and visualization to support current and future AI solutions, as directed by the QA Lead.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with data management, sales, support, and QC teams to support labeling standards, share performance metrics, and assist with customer-specific tuning and integration, escalating issues to the QA Lead as needed.
  • Support QA Activities and Training: Assist in QA team activities, execute integration tests, contribute to defining evaluation metrics, and participate in training and workshops to ensure AI deliverable quality, under the QA Lead’s supervision

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technology/engineering field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in developing and implementing and testing machine learning algorithms.
  • Solid understanding of statistical learning algorithms, including (self, semi) supervised, unsupervised and transfer learning and computer vision algorithms.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and version control.
  • Basic familiarity with object- and service-oriented design, API development, containerization, and complexity analysis.
  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Nice to have: Experience working with Grafana and experience with computer vision product development

Compensation: CAD 80,000 to 100,000
