Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Work with Communications & Public Affairs and Information Management and Technology (IMT) to ensure that SickKids websites (including sickkids.ca and the staff intranet) are of the highest quality in terms of content, design, functionality, accessibility and value as primary communications tools meeting the needs of key audiences.
- Work with subject matter experts and staff to edit and advise on content development, webpage and website builds, with accessibility and design best practices, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), diverse audiences and user experience in mind.
- Support quality assurance for external and internal websites, ensuring content adheres to branding, content guidelines and accessibility requirements.
- Advises on the development of assets to complement and enhance new and existing web content (such as graphics, photography, videos,'page'layouts).
- Manages and advises'on'design of new pages, content types, and features'on sickkids.ca,'and the intranet as well as'user management'and quality assurance'workflow.
- Acts as a consultant to staff to support the ongoing enhancement of their online presence. Provides technical and communications advice and support to internal web clients.
- Collaborates with IMT development team on planning, design and testing for sickkids.ca development sprints.
- Foster a community of learning and support for content contributors who edit and manage pages on sickkids.ca and the intranet.
- Supports design and management of digital signage across SickKids campus.
- Stay current on emerging digital trends and technologies and evaluate potential use case of new tools.
- Is aware of relevant Hospital policies and procedures and the impact of privacy, security and accessibility legislation on digital communications. This includes consulting on the development of new policies when necessary and reviewing/editing existing policies.
Here's what you'll need:
- Degree or diploma with a focus on digital communications, content strategy, marketing or equivalent experience in a digital communications environment.
- One-to-three years of experience in digital communications, with a focus on web content creation and management. Experience in the non-profit or health-care environment is an asset.
- Experience with web content management systems.
- Digital-first mindset. Familiarity with user experience (UX) design, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) principles and considerations for mobile design.
- Strong web writing, editing and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and familiarity with Canadian Press style.
- Aptitude for teaching or supporting non-expert users using content management systems
- Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently to determine day-to-day activities and to set work priorities.
- Demonstrated portfolio of web and digital communications projects.
- A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion
- Experience content management systems: Sharepoint, Episerver, WordPress
- Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and experience in creating and maintaining AODA-compliant websites
- Knowledge of Office 365, Adobe products
- Experience with Google Analytics and Looker Studio to provide recommendations based on metrics
- Working knowledge of HTML and familiarity with Figma
- 35-hour work week
