Job Description

We’re looking for an Accessibility Consultant to join our Assistive Technology team and help ensure that TD’s digital solutions are inclusive and compliant with accessibility standards. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about accessibility, understands the impact of inclusive design, and can confidently engage with both internal teams and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret accessibility conformance reports (e.g., WCAG/VPATs) to assess compliance and risk.
  • Ability to evaluate the accessibility of websites, applications, documents, and other ICT solutions against TD’s internal accessibility policy and the CAN/CSA ISO 301.549 standard as well as potential impact to customers and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and vendor managers to communicate findings, provide guidance, and support remediation planning.
  • Participate in vendor assessments and procurement processes to ensure accessibility is considered from the outset.
  • Document and escalate accessibility risks, especially those that may impact compliance with the Accessible Canada Act (ACA) and existing/future regulatory requirements.

CUSTOMER

  • Provide specialized technology related support (e.g. research, installation, configuration, provisioning, administration support of systems, applications) and ensure the service or build support meets or exceeds established standards/service levels, while minimizing operational risk
  • Partner with key stakeholders to collaborate or review the release of new accessible solutions in a timely manner; reduce change execution times by planning implementations with parallel work streams.

SHAREHOLDER

  • Monitor system lifecycles, ensuring specifications and functionality support business objectives and architecture decisions, undertaking re-development, as required
  • May monitor the performance of the environment by using meaningful metrics
  • Assess and analyze optimization opportunities to the operational environment to improve performance and/or resource utilization

EMPLOYEE / TEAM

  • Work effectively as a team, supporting other members of the team in resolving critical service issues
  • Prioritize and manage own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines
  • Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and/or team

Experience & Education

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • 5-7 years relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of digital accessibility principles and standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1+, ACA, CAN/CSA ISO 301.549).
  • Experience reviewing accessibility documentation and identifying gaps or risks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain accessibility issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset and comfort working across business, IT, and vendor teams.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and how users interact with digital content is an asset.

  • Automated testing tools (aXe, Lighthouse, etc...)
