Join Our Team as a SHEQ Manager at Epiroc!

Your Mission:

To lead the improvement and maintenance of the performance of RDC Mississauga (primarily Mississauga, ON Edmonton and Montreal Canada) regarding Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality. This position will achieve this through first-class management, interaction both inside and outside the organization, innovation in terms of ways of working and a solid commitment to succeed. As well, this position actively participates in developing the Epiroc culture and spreading it throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the PSD Global SHEQ Manager, implement global SHEQ initiatives to ensure alignment with Group directives.
  • Develop SHEQ strategy and supporting KPIs to be able to measure RDC achievements.
  • Actively drive the SHEQ focus areas in (but not limited to) the local management teams to ensure leadership commitment and to build an interdependent safety culture.
  • Ensure that SHEQ results are well visualized and communicated to all departments.
  • Ensure SHEQ is included in the business planning, making sure the entity has enough resources and competence to support the expectations in the SHEQ area.
  • Ensure an effective safety management system is in place, enabling risk and incident reporting, risk elimination and safety culture improvements (following our Safety Principles).
  • Own the safety and environmental KPIs for Operations. Compile the quarterly sustainability report. (Coordinate the non-financial reporting and YR target process.)
  • Own the initiatives related to Epiroc’s 2030 environmental targets, also ensuring processes are in place to minimize the resource usage of operations and reduce environmental risks.
  • Ensure action plans are in place to meet the targets for sustainability KPIs
  • Keep RDC ISO certification in line with Group directives and manage the ISO audits so that they contribute to better business results.
  • Monitor that the management system is kept up to date, is used actively as a management tool for standards and processes and thereby the base for continuous improvement work
  • Ensure processes for monitoring SHEQ legal compliance. Offer SHEQ related training.
  • Own the Product Safety process, ensuring it is effective and that actions are imminent. Chair the PS Committee meetings.
  • Manage and maintain SHEQ platforms, i.e., TIA and Chemwatch
  • Be a member of the facilities’ Health & Safety Committees, and conduct incident and injury investigations coordinating with the Workshop Supervisor
  • In coordination with Operations Manager and Warehouse Manager, monitor and ensure SHEQ-related employee testing requirements are completed, i.e., forklift licensing, handling of danagerous goods etc.
  • Monitor and ensure all required facility site tests and inspections are completed, i.e., stormwater inspection, sewage water testing, fire suppression system annual tests, aetc. If the facility is shared with another entity, coordinate with shared facility SHEQ coordinators.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • A well-developed sense of ethics and the courage to stand up for ethical principles
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in SHEQ management is required
  • Advanced knowledge of ISO standards, Quality Management Systems principles, and SHEQ-related audits.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Acts, Regulations and Codes in relevant locations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of the mining industry is an asset
  • University degree in Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or a related field, or proven equivalent experience
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate and/or Diploma is an asset
