Intake Coordinator – Short Stay Crisis Program (Full Time Permanent)

The Role and Opportunity

The Canadian Mental Health Association is looking for an Intake Coordinator for the Short Stay Crisis Program. The Short Stay Crisis Program provides24-hour on-site residential support and short-term case management services to individuals living with mental illness who have been involved with the criminal justice system. The Short Stay Crisis Program operate at two sites in North York and Scarborough and include the Toronto Safe Bed Registry.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as initial contact of the Safe Bed Registry either by phone or in person
  • Managing the registry for the MHJ Safe Bed Network
  • Initiating basic, non-clinical client screening
  • assessing requests made by the referral source and referring to appropriate resources
  • fielding incoming calls
  • data entry
  • developing reports and maintaining program statistics
  • developing and maintaining relationships with other community agencies to enhance available resources to clients
  • maintaining data base information
  • performing and documenting follow up on services provided
  • Administrative duties and other program duties as assigned
  • As part of the Safe Bed you will work with a team to provide excellent service to consumers, families and other service providers.


Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor/College Diploma in Social Services or Business Administration
  • Experience in community mental health, with knowledge of community programs and resources in the Greater Toronto Area
  • A welcoming and respectful approach to working with people
  • Experience providing service for people with diverse backgrounds
  • A thorough understanding of the resources and skills required to provide professional community information and referral
  • Experience researching and helping people to find appropriate information
  • Excellent assessment and communication skills
  • Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office, and client service databases
  • Access to a car and a valid driver’s license is an asset.

Salary: $54,943 – $63,988
