The Successful Candidate Will
- Responsible for program delivery of specialized Museum programs for youth and adults with an emphasis on history and heritage.
- Develops a program plan that includes equipment and supplies required, development plans as well as a multi-level program for participants to continue, if applicable.
- Provides an individualized approach that assists with the mastery of skills and development within the program and is able to modify for a variety of age groups and learning styles.
- Ability to manage their class time and preparation time, as well as arriving on time for their program, ensuring all supplies are available and that such equipment and supplies are maintained in a safe condition and ensures a proper setup of their room
- Works cooperatively and maintains ongoing and effective communication with participants, Assistant Instructor (if applicable), volunteers and the Cultural Programmer.
- Fills out the required paperwork that deals with Health and Safety issues, accidents, incidents or facility issues and/or escalates issues as appropriate.

- 1-2+ years experience in program design, development and delivery experience in a Museum-based, recreational or school setting.
- Highschool diploma (or equivalent) and some post secondary education completion in a related field (e.g. Museum Studies, Indigenous Studies) or equivalent experience. Museum experience and knowledge of local history is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, team effectiveness, communication, organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong customer service and administrative skills.
- Availability/flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and at different sites as required.
- Demonstrated time management skills with ability to prioritize demands, meet customer service standards and deadlines.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification required.
- Current High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification required (Preschool-Youth classes.
- Valid G or G2 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
- Rate of pay will be determined by Town of Newmarket staff based on applicant experience and/or program requirements.
- Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
