Who are we?

Svante is a rapidly growing clean energy technology company making commercial-scale carbon capture and removal a reality and enabling global industries to play offense in the fight against climate change that will accelerate the global transition to a lower-carbon economy.

The growing success of our company is owed to our commitment to our people, our emphasis on our values, and our innovative technology. Passion is put into what we do every day.

Purpose of the Role:

As the Senior Plant Process Engineer, you will develop, design, commission, test, and optimize carbon capture gas processing plants for a range of industrial applications. You will support early-stage technical discussions with potential customers, working closely with the Business Development and Sales teams to bring customer priorities and concerns—both technical and commercial—into Svante.

You will play a key role in scaling up our novel solid adsorption gas separation process from pilot to full commercial CO₂ capture plants. Your deep understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and mass transport phenomena will be essential.

You will also be responsible for delivering all basic process engineering components of Svante’s licensing technology package, including block flow and process flow diagrams (PFDs), heat and material balances, P&IDs, utility flow diagrams, equipment specifications and sizing, general plant layout, and capital/operational cost estimates.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • You bring 10+ years of experience in chemical process development, design, and operations.
  • You have a degree in Chemical Engineering and a strong technical background in gas processing, steam systems, and carbon capture technologies.
  • You have experience with solvent-based CO₂ capture, gas separation, or gas power plants.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office tools and process simulation software like HYSYS and Aspen.
  • You have hands-on experience in gas plant construction, commissioning, and project engineering.
  • You have a demonstrated history of prioritizing safety, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a safety-first culture.
  • You have strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • You approach problems by thinking critically and exercising sound judgment.
  • You have an ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.
  • You are adaptable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • You manage time well, pay close attention to detail, and meet deadlines consistently.
  • You build trust with internal and external partners through excellent customer service and credibility.
  • You analyze data effectively and make informed, strategic recommendations.
  • You are able to confidently develop and deliver presentations and technical documentation.

What Success looks like in this role:

  • You will lead carbon capture projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery within budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • You will prepare key engineering documents, including the Basis of Design, PFDs, P&IDs, and process control philosophy manuals.
  • You will ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, conduct risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • You will design and optimize greenfield gas processing plants and troubleshoot existing systems.
  • You will apply chemical engineering principles—mass, momentum, and heat transfer—to process and equipment design.
  • You will perform HAZOP studies and techno-economic analyses to evaluate project feasibility and costs.
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and EPC partners throughout all project phases.
  • You will mentor junior engineers and promote continuous learning and innovation.
  • You will stay current with industry trends and identify opportunities for improvement in carbon capture technologies.
