Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Commercial Services, the Senior Category Manager, Fuel and Deicing will be responsible for sourcing Porter’s jet fuel and aircraft deicing needs and for the overall management of Porter’s fuel strategy.
This role is critical to supporting Porter’s ambitious expansion plans for its fleet of Embraer E195-E2 and Dash 8-400 aircraft. Duties & Responsibilities
- Category Strategies: Create and implement comprehensive category strategies specifically tailored to jet fuel and aircraft deicing.
- Sourcing: Lead large-value, complex sourcing RFx for jet fuel and aircraft deicing services to negotiate cost savings and supply chain stability. Lead complex commercial negotiations and finalize contracts.
- Industry Leadership: Monitor market trends, innovations, issues, opportunities, risks and best practices to maintain a competitive edge for Porter. Actively participate in Fuel and Deicing Consortiums and advocate for Porter’s needs and interests. Participate in Porter’s Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) strategy.
- Operational Support: Manage monthly fuel nominations (consumption forecasts) with fuel providers. Work with Porter’s internal stakeholder teams on needs, forecasts and spending initiatives.
- Supplier Management: Manage current and prospective supplier relationships and track and analyze vendor performance, addressing any issues and implementing improvement plans as necessary.
- Contract Management: Manage all aspects of Porter’s contractual relationships with suppliers. Ensure compliance with terms and conditions, obligations and mitigating risks. Maximize value in contracts.
- P2P Processes: Collaborate closely with internal business partners such as Flight Operations, Legal, Finance and Accounts Payable to ensure seamless procurement-to-pay processes and integration.
- Budget Management: Manage fuel and deicing budgets, ensuring cost-effective purchasing decisions and financial accountability and awareness.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations on fuel and deicing activities, risks, vendor performance, industry trends and cost savings to senior leadership.
- Support Safety: Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understanding, complying and promoting the company Safety Policy.

- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, commerce, accounting, engineering or similar field
- Minimum seven years of procurement experience
- Previous fuel sourcing experience (jet fuel preferred)
- Previous aircraft deicing sourcing experience preferred
- Strong understanding of North American fuel markets
- Strong business acumen and solid aptitude for data analysis and decision making
- Assertive negotiation and networking skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to present complex subjects clearly and concisely
- Effective analytical and reporting skills
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of Google software (Docs, Sheets, Slides) or Microsoft suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must be able to travel within Canada and the US
