Support a startup empowering underrepresented groups into photography


Cameras For Girls aims to address the issues surrounding the lack of empowerment, gender inequality and poverty across Africa by working with people endeavouring to become journalists and photographers in male-dominated spaces. They work with people who have either recently graduated from a Journalism and Communications program at the local university or are in the last year of studies. To get paid work, they must own a camera and know how to use it but many lack the resources to do so. CFG empowers these people with a camera to keep + a 4-phase photography and business skills training. This training is delivered both in-country and online.


Role (Volunteer): Photographer & Photo Coordinator.


Role Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and organize photo uploads on our PicDrop account.
  • Guide students in the uploading process and resolve any technical difficulties.
  • Curate and sort student photos into relevant folders or projects.
  • Provide constructive comments and feedback on student submissions.
  • Help maintain an organized, positive, and encouraging digital workspace for our photography community.


Ideal Candidate
  • Experience with photography (amateur or professional).
  • Comfortable with digital photo management platforms (PicDrop or similar).
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive communicator.
  • Enjoys mentoring or supporting creative learners.
  • Reliable and able to volunteer for 2-5 hours weekly.
