Full-Time Grounds Maintenance Worker (386-24/25)
The workload for this position is eight (8) hours per day, being forty (40) hours per week, and may include shift work, twelve (12) months of the year. Pay Grade 9 - Job #0925 - $31.90/Hour
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations or Designate, this position will maintain school sites, operate grounds equipment, and inspect and repair playground infrastructure. This position may be required to start work at various project locations.

Applicants Must Have
- Completed Grade 12.
- Two (2) years' combined experience in landscaping work including:
- Knowledge and experience in the operations of heavy equipment such as: (rubber tire backhoe, large dump trucks, small excavator, skid steer).
- Knowledge and experience in operations of light equipment such as (lawn mowers, tractors, sweepers, small dump trucks).
- Knowledge and experience with the installation and maintenance of fencing and playground equipment.
- Working knowledge of current horticultural activities: tree pruning, grass cutting and Integrated Pest Management techniques.
- Demonstrate current knowledge and experience with B.C. construction and maintenance safety requirements including WCB Regulation relating to the trades industry.
- Equipment Operator Certificate (three-week course) and/or Equipment Operator Certificate (minimum 8 hours) with 100+ hours of equipment operating experience.
- Valid Class 3 B.C. Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement.
- Playground Inspection Certificate with current understanding of CSA Playground Standards.
- Pesticide Applicator and Dispenser Certificate.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate.
- Complete all required Health & Safety training.
- In good physical condition and health to perform the required duties of this position in a safe and efficient manner.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.
- Able to work alone and within a team environment.
- An initiative-taker.
- Analyse, interpret and use judgement in the resolution of problems.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- Read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
- Demonstrate professional interpersonal skills.
- Exhibit basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft applications such as: Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
- Education in recognized trade school;
- Current forklift certification;
- First Aid Level 1 or 2 certificate
