The Director of Corporate Portfolio Management will lead and oversee the Portfolio Management unit for business banking credit within the Corporate segment ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development, modernization and maintenance of portfolio management processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Improve existing reports and queries, setting standards for effective information presentation with a risk analysis perspective.
  • Liaise with different user groups to support the construction of specific queries and reports.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to develop and maintain dashboards for transparency on key compliance metrics.
  • Contribute to portfolio analysis for decision-making, considering risk management, portfolio management, and regulatory policies.
  • Monitor and report on portfolio performance across Corporate Business Banking, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Craft messaging related to the business implications of key risk topics, including provisions for credit losses, asset growth, RWA, rating migrations, economic cycles, geopolitics, and industry trends is an asset.
  • Ensure alignment in the monitoring process and controls by collaborating with Banking partners.
  • Mitigate risks associated with the portfolio, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Scotiabank's internal regulations and guidelines.
  • Champion areas requiring attention and influence resourcing and budget which may be needed from time to time.
  • Work with Banking and GRM to identify areas of training needs for various credit processes.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Skills

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Postgraduate education in business or related with emphasis in finance, accounting, or business; or commensurate work experience. M.B.A., M.F.E., CA, CMA, CFA, FRM, CGA or equivalent designation are an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of Corporate Banking processes, products and services, including a working knowledge of the systems, routines and operating procedures.
  • Superior credit skills and sound judgment as demonstrated through his/her previous track record and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and implement strategies, roadmaps and business cases, managing multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Superior risk assessment and analytical skills.
  • Superior accounting and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong coaching skills.
  • Good understanding of commercial management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
