We are currently looking for an Area Sales Manager (12+ month contract) in Calgary, AB.
As a results-driven influencer and relationship builder, you will drive Volkswagen Brand sales, customer satisfaction, and profitability objectives for the Area’s retail business. Your consultative and professional approach will be critical in improving overall dealer performance levels to grow the business and drive consistency amongst dealers.
In this home office-based field role, reporting to the National Manager, Sales Field Operations, you will be the primary contact for dealer principals, general managers and key dealership management to lead and manage change within the dealership toward the fulfillment of the Volkswagen critical targets. Key responsibilities include providing support in the achievement of the Area's new and used vehicle sales through specific conquest and loyalty strategies. Requires accurate forecasting to achieve vehicle allocation and wholesale objectives This position is an integral part of measuring and monitoring the performance of the Volkswagen critical targets, and established operating standards that support dealer initiatives necessary to ensure quality experiences at retail and industry leading levels of customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities
- Provides consultative support and direction of dealers’ new and used vehicle operations to deliver upon the corporate objectives.
- Establishes strategy and initiates tactics with dealer management on inventory and sales analysis to predict dealerships short term and long-term needs.
- Develops distribution planning, allocation and forecasting activities.
- Manages and directs administration tasks, as related to new and used vehicle sales, through Ajax support staff i.e. IDM (Individual Dealer Marketing) inquiries, sales meetings, area and local sales promotions, etc.
- Directs and leads all process improvements to deliver a high degree of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Assists dealers with personnel planning and recruiting for their new and used sales departments.
- Responsible and accountable for development and implementation of business plans. Plans to include both short and long term strategy to address any dealership operation shortcoming.
- Initiates appropriate analysis to determine individual dealer sales performance in respective primary area of influence and is also responsible and accountable for addressing any shortcomings by implementing dealer development initiatives.
- Manages training activities within the dealership as it relates to the sales, leasing and financing of new and used vehicles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, and/or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years’ automotive industry sales experience
- A positive, winning attitude and proven ability to be an effective business partner, team player, and consultant
- Strong market knowledge, strategic orientation, and change leadership skills
- Proven success in partnering at all levels of the organization, with ability to negotiate and influence to achieve results
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong time management and computer skills
- Flexibility for regular travel throughout assigned region (approximately 25-40% overnight); quarterly trips to Corporate Office in Ajax;
