The VP of Strategy Execution is a strategic leader and a key member of the Global Risk leadership team. They will manage, prioritize and provide counsel to all key activities and demands for the Global Chief Risk Officer of RGA. As part of the leadership team, this global role will help direct, influence, and implement strategy. This role will partner with other leaders on the team to develop and communicate strategy and ensure the execution of initiatives, as well as other cross-functional operational activities to drive the success of the Risk group.

Education
$173,400.00 - $216,750.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. The VP of Strategy Execution is a strategic leader and a key member of the Global Risk leadership team. They will manage, prioritize and provide counsel to all key activities and demands for the Global Chief Risk Officer of RGA. As part of the leadership team, this global role will help direct, influence, and implement strategy. This role will partner with other leaders on the team to develop and communicate strategy and ensure the execution of initiatives, as well as other cross-functional operational activities to drive the success of the Risk group.
Essential Functions
- Provide broad day to day support and counsel to the Global CRO. Proactively identify people, process and technology issues and opportunities with recommended actions to drive positive change with urgency. Manage all critical activities, prioritize demands, and provide advice as needed.
- Lead strategy and goal coordination for the GRS organization, including leading the annual process to set strategy across the GRS teams and coordinate with other functional teams as needed. Challenge the thought process within the teams and anticipate future enterprise/external needs so they are given due consideration within the organization as part of the strategy setting process.
- Act as key member of the GRS leadership team. Enhance communication, promulgate culture, foster engagement and help instil the “winning mindset” across the team.
- Triage and provide recommendations on quality of communications and materials instead of or prior to Global CRO review. Work with the GRS leadership team on key team deliverables and presentations to ensure consistency and quality.
- Support the Global CRO as needed on internal/external engagement or groups, including monitoring of industry developments on important issues. Partner with team leaders to ensure we stay on top of emerging local and global trends as it relates to both risks and opportunities in how we execute on our strategy.
- Work with Global CRO and GRS leaders to develop and prepare Board and EC presentations, reporting, and other materials. Coordinate with CoS to the CEO to develop and prepare Board and reporting materials as needed for the CEO.
- Manage aggregate budgets at the Global CRO level. Look for opportunities for efficiencies, challenge teams, report and proactively manage spend and prioritization across the group, coordinating with Finance where required. Champion the use of AI across the group to drive productivity and free up time for more value-added activity.
- Liaise with the HRBP to assist with workforce planning and hiring process as needed.
- Structure information and enhance reporting to deliver objective metrics/dashboards to assess progress, quality and impact of all team activities. Provide senior leaders in GRSE with insights on accomplishments, gates, and progress towards goals.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Economics, Finance or related field (required)
- MBA or other relevant advanced degree (preferred)
- Licenses & Certifications Change management or process improvement certification (preferred)
- 10+ years’ experience in insurance/reinsurance field interfacing with and influencing senior executive (required)
- 10+ years’ experience in Strategy, management consulting or innovation (required)
- Expertise in implementing change, ability to analyse and improve business processes. (required)
- Demonstrated ability to be both strategic and tactical when needed
- 3+ years’ strategy experience (preferred)
- Exceptional ability to make timely and effective decisions and produce results through strategic planning and the implementation and evaluation of programs and policies. Demonstrated capabilities to constructively challenge the status quo, resulting in improved outcomes and a thorough understanding of the various disciplines within the Risk function and how they relate (required)
- Exceptional communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all associates and management at all levels and by external contacts (required).
- Intelligent, confident in their capabilities, and able to thrive in a complex environment with other highly motivated, intelligent professionals, including a willingness and ability to persuade and challenge other leaders, accept and encourage challenge from others (required)
- Ability to gain agreement in contentious or potentially contentious situations involving a broad range of stakeholders (required)
- Ability to work well in an environment with multiple concurrent projects and demonstrate high energy and a sense of urgency in managing multiple priorities while working with various teams (required)
- Ability to be flexible in working hours and willingness to travel on occasion (required)
- Proven success in strategy setting and execution, market research, and involvement in industry working groups (preferred)
