Role description:
We are looking for an experienced Urban Planner and Real Estate Market Leader to join our dynamic, multi-market practice within the Placemaking Canada East Studio. As an integral part of the Architecture and Urbanism (A&U) division, which is nestled within the Places Global Business Area, this role reports directly to the Practice Group Manager of Placemaking.
This position offers an enriching opportunity to provide strategic advice to a diverse array of clients across numerous markets. As a senior leader, you will be instrumental in fostering growth, developing teams, creating innovative solutions, identifying opportunities, and delivering exceptional, client-focused outcomes.
We are seeking a team member based in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) who has a demonstrated history of pragmatic and impactful work for both public and private clients. Ideally, this candidate will have over 10 years of relevant experience and possess a comprehensive understanding of the Canadian real estate context.
Role accountabilities:
Leadership and Strategy:
- Assist in developing the Canadian Placemaking team, with a focus on real estate development and strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of business strategies, including team development, mentorship, and industry representation.
- Oversee and implement strategies ensuring service quality, excellence, and sustainable growth.
Business Development:
- Play a pivotal role in identifying and nurturing new client relationships, especially in real estate and infrastructure projects.
- Engage actively in business development and client targeting to stimulate organic growth and enhance industry presence.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
Team and Resource Management:
- Encourage and develop talent within the practice group, with an emphasis on enhancing technical capabilities and professional growth.
- Participate in resource planning decisions and cultivate a supportive and positive team culture.
- Promote development programs and industry opportunities to support career advancement.
Client and Market Insight:
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of client needs, legislative environment and market trends to identify opportunities and offer strategic advice.
- Foster relationships within Arcadis to promote collaboration and cross-selling opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A relevant degree in urban planning or real estate.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills to effectively convey ideas to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and innovation in land use, economics, and planning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Over 10 years of experience in urban planning and real estate, with consultancy experience being advantageous.
- Proven experience in leading and developing successful teams in interdisciplinary settings.
- Experience working in both public and private sector environments.

The salary range for this position is $140,000 -$180,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role
