Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Senior Human Resources Business Partner (Sr HR BP) plays a pivotal role in fostering a positive, inclusive company culture and supporting the wellbeing of all employees. This role requires strong partnership with managers, supervisors, and the rest of the HR team to support company-wide HR initiatives, performance management, employee relations, and engagement. The Sr HRBP will serve as an advisor and strategic partner, ensuring compliance, guiding best practices, and delivering on organizational HR priorities.

The Sr HRBP will serve as an advisor and strategic partner, ensuring compliance, guiding best practices, and delivering on organizational HR priorities.
Technical
- Provide advice, counsel, and guidance to Managers for recruiting, retention, organizational planning, compensation, employee development, management, and other human resources services.
- Lead and support employee relations, promoting open communication and conflict resolution in a respectful and confidential manner.
- Recommend, update, maintain, communicate, and administer HR objectives, policies, plans, programs, and procedures.
- Design, coordinate, and facilitate learning and development initiatives, including compliance training, technical development, and company-wide programs.
- Facilitate the performance management process, including performance reviews, improvement plans, and coaching leaders.
- Provide coaching and advice on employee development and engagement.
- Manage leaves of absence and gradual return to work programs in partnership with staff and leadership.
- Participate in offboarding processes, conducting exit interviews and supporting a positive transition for departing employees.
- Support benefits management, including liaising with providers and assisting with complex claims such as long-term disability and critical illness.
- Engage in internal communication efforts—partner with leadership and HR team members to disseminate key information and updates.
- Collaborate on recruitment projects, including talent acquisition and compensation benchmarking.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies, ensuring compliance with labour laws.
- Serve as a role model and champion for company culture, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Assist with HR metrics, reporting, and the use of HRIS and ATS systems.
- Participate in Salary Surveys as required.
- Partner with the Sr. Talent Acquisition Partner and the Sr HR Analyst to determine compensation alignment and inequities at CE; provide guidance for new employee compensation.
- Liaise with the Manager HSE and collaborate and support safety initiatives company-wide.
- Review and seek training to remain current with the BC Employment Standards Act.
- Liaise with HR professionals at headquarters, other domestic business units, and foreign business units to facilitate HR programs and initiatives.
- Stand in for the Manager, HR as required.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead HR Business Partner role.
- CPHR designation.
- Experience in compensation, performance management, employee relations, learning & development, and benefits administration.
- Strong communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
- Sound understanding of HR policy, labour law compliance, and best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively and confidentially with all levels of the organization.
- Experience with HRIS/ATS systems (e.g., BambooHR, JazzHR, Workday) is considered an asset.
- Demonstrate a positive safety culture.
- Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.
- Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy.
