We are looking for a Technical Game Designer for an unannounced project with a large IP partner. This is a F2P casual game and this role will focus on technical systems design and economy design, but may also touch on content design, character design, and more. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated, and an excellent communicator who can effortlessly move between high and low-level problems. You have an inherent desire to understand players and to represent them in our games.
This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.

In This Role, You Can Expect To
- Understand and collaborate with the team and other designers to expand and refine the vision with further details.
- Advocate and communicate the game's vision to the team members and other stakeholders.
- Implement Designs and Content through Data Entry:
- Execute game balance through entering game data (CSV, XLS, etc…)
- Create characters by connecting art, design and data directly in the engine.
- Collaborate to find the best systems for entering and managing data for the game.
- Develop Documents and Identify System Needs:
- Create design documents that outline the game's mechanics, systems, and features.
- Gather reference from other comparable games to influence feature and content design.
- Create simple and rough mock-ups to illustrate ideas visually.
- Design characters, dungeons and other content to meet the game’s needs.
- Identify and define the technical requirements and system needs to deliver the desired game experience.
- Design Rules, Parameters, and Game Systems:
- Define the rules and parameters for in-game features and systems.
- Implement and fine-tune game systems, economies, and progression lines.
- Experience working with Unity 3D or Unreal
- Experience with spreadsheets, csv, and other forms of data entry.
- Intellectual curiosity and logical thinking
- Rock-solid organizational and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Bonus if you have raw technical skills including scripting experience and/or strong math skills
- A hunger for new, different, and exciting design challenges
