About The Job

The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse:

  • Functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) or multi-disciplinary care team
  • Ensures that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems, and/or problematic substance use and/or development disability issues who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services
  • Provides assessment and refers to community support
  • Makes recommendations for inpatient and outpatient MHSU services; with a priority response dedicated to patients who present with / or are at risk of overdose. Services may include short term follow up to support seamless linkages to community based addictions care or referrals to Opioid Agonist Treatment

This role with the Connections team works in a system of care. The successful candidate will work closely with addiction physicians and an acute care team to ensure therapy initiation, support and streamlined transition and continuity of care. Experience in substance use work and an understanding of evidence based practice for opioid dependence is required. We are looking for a nurse who is flexible and well organized, with strong assessment and communication skills.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.

Shifts of work will be from 07:00 to 18:13, 12:48 to 00:00, 09:00 to 20:10 hours.
