Business Intelligence Architect (Senior Analyst) (I)

Reporting to the IT Manager and working within the IT Project Management Office, the Business Intelligence Architect (Senior Analyst) will apply their expertise to play a crucial role in gathering requirements, producing comprehensive reports, designing workspace architecture, and developing databases and data warehouses. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining Business Intelligence system foundations and delivering effective solutions using tools such as Fabric, Power BI, SSRS, SQL, and Power Query.
The successful applicant for this unionized Education Support Staff position, Level I ($80, 704-$93, 241) , will work thirty-five (35) hours per week, twelve (12) months per year effective as soon as possible.

Responsibilities
- Leads, designs, implements, and maintains a comprehensive vision and a three- year plan for business intelligence (BI) systems as a component of the larger IT service planning cycle for WRDSB.
- Leads data modeling and management efforts to support reporting across various departments including Learning Services, Human Resources, Finance, Facilities, Security, Information Technology and other Board departments. A high degree of ingenuity and the ability to make complex design and data modeling decisions, are essential to ensure accurate reporting outcomes.
- Oversees the lifecycle and maintenance of business intelligence systems ensuring, availability, performance, and security in accordance with agreed upon service level agreements.
- Proactively leads multiple complex technical projects for the optimization and continuous improvements of business intelligence systems.
- Develop and maintain automation and synchronization processes to efficiently and seamlessly integrate business intelligence systems and reporting.
- Responsible for changes to production environments, including maintaining data, updating applications, creating roles, and maintaining security.
- Practices agile leadership by leading sprints for medium to large size projects, ensuring quick, reliable, and timely delivery of outcomes.
- Research, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that impact critical business intelligence systems systems for departments throughout the WRDSB.
- Assist in the development of IT policies, procedures, and process documentation related to business intelligence technology.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, vulnerabilities and threats, to ensure integrity and security of business intelligence systems.
- Establish a consistent, scalable data warehouse and business intelligence (BI) architecture for the organization.
- Design and develop scalable and efficient business intelligence solutions using tools such as Fabric, Power BI, SSRS, SQL, and Power Query to meet analytical needs.
- Maintain databases and data warehouses to support reporting needs, ensuring efficient data retrieval, integrity, accuracy, and security.
- Extract, transform, and load data from various sources into databases and data warehouses.
- Assists in creating insightful data models leading to effective pattern recognition and evidence-based decision making.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments of WRDSB to gather and analyze reporting requirements.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security within databases and data warehouses.
- Optimize database modeling, performance and efficiency to meet reporting demands.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the BI architecture.
- Lead change management within BI architecture.
- Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data reporting systems.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and troubleshooting as needed to support decision-making processes.
- Administer BI workspace security and access in accordance with Board standards.
- Follow established project and change management guidelines.
- Provide training and support to users with BI solutions, database usage, and best practices.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to members of the BI team.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data sources are properly integrated, secured, and maintained.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in business intelligence, AI, and data analytics.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3+ year degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years experience in designing and maintaining enterprise databases, data warehouses, and business intelligence (BI) solutions, reports and dashboards.
- Requires a high level of technical proficiency in the MS SQL Server Business Intelligence (BI) stack's many components and tools, such as PowerBI, SSRS, TSQL, Power Query, MDX, DAX, and Fabric to determine innovative data management and intelligence solutions.
- Power BI certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Expected to stay up to date with current trends and technologies.
