Job Summary

The PathNet Cerner Analyst is responsible for the configuration, support, maintenance, and optimization of the Cerner PathNet Laboratory Information System. The role involves close collaboration with clinical laboratory stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to ensure smooth operation and enhancement of Cerner PathNet functionalities in alignment with clinical and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for Cerner PathNet and associated lab modules (General Laboratory, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Anatomical Pathology, etc.).
  • Perform day-to-day system administration, issue resolution, and troubleshooting for Cerner PathNet.
  • Analyze business and clinical workflows to identify optimization opportunities within PathNet.
  • Configure test dictionaries, specimen collection workflows, analyzer interfaces, result reporting rules, etc.
  • Participate in system upgrades, testing, validation, and documentation activities.
  • Coordinate with laboratory staff, IT teams, and Cerner support for issue resolution and enhancement requests.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation including configuration records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials.
  • Provide end-user training and support during go-lives or system enhancements.
  • Ensure data integrity, compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CAP, CLIA), and adherence to change management policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Life Sciences, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3-8 years of experience in Cerner PathNet support or implementation (modify per level).
  • Strong understanding of laboratory operations and workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with Cerner Millennium, Discern Explorer, and related reporting tools.
  • Experience with interface testing, analyzer integration, and lab middleware is a plus.
  • Ability to translate clinical/lab requirements into technical configurations.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Certifications

  • Cerner PathNet Certification (preferred)
  • ISTQB / ITIL Foundation (optional but beneficial)
  • HIPAA compliance knowledge (preferred for US-based projects)
