Position Summary
The Material Operator plays a key role in managing the flow of materials throughout the Manufacturing Operations department. This includes ensuring that all materials are in the right place at the right time to support production. In addition to maintaining a smooth, systematic flow from receiving to the manufacturing floor, the Material Operator is also responsible for preparing daily shipments and picking service part orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; record inventory locations
- Document the movement of materials by tracking units delivered and their locations
- Replenish production lines and kits on a day-to-day basis
- Decant materials to prevent cardboard being stored on the manufacturing floor
- Support production line replenishment through Kanban-related systems
- Receive and process daily purchase orders
- Coordinate daily UPS shipments
- Pack and prepare skid shipments
- Pick and fulfill service part orders
- Receive credit-return materials and supplies from production
- Receive and verify RMA materials
Qualifications
- 2+ years of related experience in material handling and inventory management
- High attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience using inventory management systems
- Knowledge of material handling best practices
- Proven ability with material handling and kitting
