Reporting to the Director, TSSSA, the Product Owner will act as a bridge between Operations and IT, ensuring that the Computerized Maintenance Management Information System (CMMIS) is effectively integrated, continuously improved, and fully aligned with the end users’ needs. This role will drive user adoption, provide hands-on support and training validation, and gather operational feedback to ensure the system evolves to meet maintenance requirements. By representing Operations within the development process, this role ensures that the technology remains relevant, user-friendly, and capable of supporting ongoing maintenance and reliability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Operations and IT: Collaborate closely with the IT development team to ensure that the CMMIS aligns with operational requirements and integrates smoothly with daily workflows;
  • Gather and communicate end-user requirements: Continuously engage with end users in Operations to gather, prioritize, and translate their needs into clear system requirements, enhancements and acceptance criteria, ensuring the CMMIS addresses real-world demands;
  • Provide ongoing support and training: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for end users, offering support, troubleshooting, and validate training to promote efficient use of the system and help embed it into operational practices;
  • Drive system adoption and engagement: Develop and implement strategies to foster enthusiasm and sustained engagement with the CMMIS, advocating for its benefits and ensuring Operations teams are fully onboard;
  • Monitor and assess system performance: Regularly review the CMMIS’ effectiveness in meeting maintenance needs, identify improvement areas, and work with IT to implement updates that align with evolving requirements;
  • Champion process improvements: Identify opportunities to improve maintenance workflows through CMMIS enhancements and advocate for changes that improve efficiency and reliability;
  • Stay informed on industry advancements: Keep up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in CMMIS, advising on potential innovations that could further benefit the Operations team.

Requirements

  • Degree in either Operations Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • 5-8 years of experience in operations, maintenance management, or a related field;
  • 1-2 years in a role that includes experience working with technology implementation, support, or improvement, such as IT support, systems administration, or as a business SME in a tech project setting;
  • Excellent written and verbal proficiency in both official languages (English/French);
  • Technical Aptitude in Computerized Maintenance Management Information Systems (CMMIS (IBM Maximo preferred);
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills;
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking;
  • Change Management;
  • Knowledge of Industry Best Practices.
