The City of Edmonton’s Service Innovation and Performance branch is committed to delivering digital service products that improve Edmontonians experience with City services and support efficient and effective operations.
The Product Coordinator role provides foundational support within the product development lifecycle.Their primary purpose is to assist in translating user and business needs into actionable requirements for specific product features, ensuring their smooth execution and delivery by multidisciplinary teams. This position is accountable for contributing directly to the quality, usability, and operational success of products.
What will you do?
Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 18 months in accordance with Article 18.02 of the Collective Agreement
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $38.908 - $48.609 (Hourly); $81,239.90 - $101,495.59 (Annually)
Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the City and CSU 52 and will be forthcoming shortly.

This position is accountable for contributing directly to the quality, usability, and operational success of products.
What will you do?
- Translate business goals into clear, concise, and actionable product requirements and specifications for development teams
- Actively participate in the development process, answering questions and ensuring features are built according to specifications
- Support the launch planning for new features, including documentation and internal communication
- Assist in monitoring key metrics and gathering user feedback post-launch to inform continuous improvement
- Ensure that delivered features comply with appropriate organizational standards and quality guidelines
- Manage day-to-day operational needs related to product features and initiatives
- Act as a key communicator within the immediate product team, ensuring clarity on feature goals and progress
- Support stakeholder management by preparing updates and assisting in communication with internal teams
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams (service design, development, business) to ensure shared understanding
- Document and disseminate product information clearly and concisely
- Assist in translating product strategy into a tangible roadmap for specific features or smaller initiatives
- Contribute insights and analysis to support the definition of product vision, strategy, and roadmap for specific features or components
- Other related responsibilities
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Design, Engineering, or a related field
- 2 years of experience in a related field (e.g., business analysis, project coordination, software development, UX support) or a strong demonstrated interest in product management
- Project Management certification (agile methodologies an asset)
- Product management certifications
- Service Design certification
- Change Management certification
- Understanding of basic product development lifecycle phases and processes
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and ceremonies
- Knowledge of user research fundamentals and data collection techniques
- Awareness of product quality standards and compliance procedures
- Basic understanding of the product's domain and user base
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical skills for interpreting basic data and user feedback
- Organizational and time management skills to handle daily tasks and deadlines
- Problem-solving skills for addressing feature-level issues
- Collaboration skills for working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to translate high-level needs into detailed requirements
- Ability to learn new tools, processes, and product domains quickly
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and feedback
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately
- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
