The City of Edmonton's Parks and Roads Services Branch is seeking an Operations Business Performance Analyst to join our Infrastructure Operations section. The Operations Business Performance Analyst is integral to advancing the Parks and Roads Services' Branch Vision, Mission, and strategic priorities. This position provides critical analytical support to Infrastructure Operations, enabling evidence-based and citizen-focused decisions. You will be instrumental in developing analytical tools, performing process and data mapping, creating reports, and building unit-level KPI dashboards. Your work will involve preparing monthly budget variance analyses, conducting hotspot mapping, and benchmarking services to optimize service delivery and increase oversight of business operations.

What will you do?

  • Act as the first point of contact for data, analytics, and performance-related questions for your assigned operational teams
  • Understand the intricacies of each operational team's work and develop suitable data visualization systems and analytics reports
  • Under supervision of Team leads, modify existing software, devise new software tools, or formulate new software to better fit operational demands
  • Standardize operational planning & monitoring of the various services provided by Infrastructure Operations through data analytics and IT systems
  • Lead the set up, management and close out of work orders for each operational season
  • Prepare monthly accomplishment, order number and labour hour reports by pulling relevant data from SAP or directly from related SQL databases
  • Develop section level KPIs that align with Branch level KPIs
  • Conduct trend and variance analysis using statistical mapping/mathematical tools to analyze data sets to develop dashboards and provide pulse of operations
  • Monitor operations' service levels and delivery to produce daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports
  • Support the engagement of targeted SMEs, internal and external stakeholders to gather relevant data
  • Lead and direct cross-functional meetings to collaborate with SMEs, internal and external stakeholders
  • T roubleshoot and rectify issues related to analytical and operational software/programming


Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Computer Sciences, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or an equivalent field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in business development, statistics, or data analytics


Assets:

  • Visualization and Mapping with Tableau and ESRI ArcGIS
  • Familiarity with FME, JavaScript, AppScript and python
  • Familiarity with SAP
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, GCP or any cloud platform


Skills required for success:

  • Strong business acumen combined with well-developed skills and knowledge in business analysis practices
  • Knowledge of business process modeling and implementation, performance measurement, and reporting tools
  • Excellent understanding of Programming Algorithms
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research, statistical methodology, and evaluation techniques
  • Aptitude for computers, specifically with analytic dashboards and business process/planning software
  • Ability to understand and execute advanced oral and written instructions, and express ideas effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and prepare and present technical briefs and reports
  • Strong analytical ability, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence and well-developed leadership and facilitation skills, along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills with the ability to adjust style to audience requirements
  • Ability to effectively gather, synthesize, integrate, and interpret multi-faceted information from diverse sources
  • Well-developed analytical and organizational skills, with strong problem-solving capabilities and a good understanding of business processes
  • Skill in project planning, monitoring, and management, with a focus on process design and culture transition
  • Ability to research issues accurately to identify and solve problems, establish effective working relations, and build consensus
  • General understanding of civic, departmental, and branch goals, programs, and operations
  • General understanding of change management practices

Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 11 months

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Salary Range : $38.908 - $48.609 (Hourly)
