Position Summary:


SE Health seeks a hands-on Business Intelligence Re-Platform Lead (Power BI & Fabric) to drive our Power BI and Microsoft Fabric implementation while serving as the primary solutions expert for our BI transformation. This role focuses on practical implementation of advanced Microsoft BI / Azure / Fabric capabilities, serving as both technical specialist and internal consultant to guide our team's transition from legacy on-prem SSRS/MicroStrategy/SSAS to modern cloud-based analytics. The ideal candidate combines deep Microsoft platform expertise with exceptional communication skills to solve complex business requirements and transfer knowledge to our existing team. The role is expected to lead the design of our Power BI platform, participate in providing analytical solutions, create/design reports, build models in Power BI, implement security within Power BI (including RLS), and to enable self-server reporting. The incumbent is expected to lead design of Fabric architecture, and to ensure that solutions are robust, scalable and extensible. Finally, the role is expected to lead a team, interact with stakeholders and obtain analytical requirements with a focus on positive communication and accurate understanding of the asks.


Key Responsibilities:


Microsoft Platform Expertise & Solution Design

  • Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and modern BI capabilities
  • Power BI Mastery: Architect and implement advanced Power BI solutions including complex semantic layers, advanced DAX calculations, and performance optimization
  • Row-Level Security Implementation: Design and deploy sophisticated RLS solutions for multi-tenant environments with dynamic security requirements
  • Microsoft Fabric Solutions: Lead Fabric workspace design, data pipeline implementation, and integration with existing systems
  • SSAS Migration Strategy: Guide migration of 50+ legacy OLAP cubes on MicroStrategy or SQL Server to Power BI semantic models with minimal business disruption
  • Self-Service Analytics: Enable secure self-service capabilities with proper governance, data discovery, and user empowerment
  • Advanced Features Implementation: Deploy paginated reports automation, subscription services, embedded analytics, and mobile solutions
  • Embedded Power BI
  • Provide immediate, practical solutions to business requirements using platform features


Business Problem Solving & Consultation

  • Requirements Translation: Convert complex business needs into practical Microsoft stack solutions (e.g., "How do we automate paginated report distribution?" or "How do we enable department-specific analytics with data security?")
  • Solution Architecture: Design end-to-end solutions for specific business scenarios using Power BI, Fabric, Azure services, and integration patterns
  • Stakeholder Consultation: Serve as internal consultant for business units requiring advanced analytics capabilities
  • Proof of Concepts: Rapidly prototype solutions to validate approaches and demonstrate capabilities to stakeholders
  • Best Practices Development: Establish standards for Power BI development, semantic modeling, and governance across the organization
  • Architect self-service BI with appropriate security guardrails


Knowledge Transfer & Team Development

  • Advanced Training Delivery: Conduct hands-on training sessions on Power BI advanced features, DAX, semantic modeling, and Fabric capabilities
  • Mentorship Program: Provide ongoing guidance to existing team members transitioning from MicroStrategy to Power BI
  • Documentation Creation: Develop comprehensive guides, best practices, and solution templates for team use
  • Skills Assessment: Evaluate team capabilities and create targeted learning paths for advanced Microsoft BI features
  • Internal Evangelism: Promote adoption of new capabilities and drive cultural change toward modern BI practices
  • Lead hands-on training sessions on Power BI advanced features
  • Create solution templates and best practice guides
  • Mentor team members on DAX and data modeling within Power BI


Platform Administration & Governance

  • Power BI Service Management: Configure workspaces, deployment pipelines, and capacity management for enterprise-scale implementation
  • Security Framework: Implement and maintain security models, data gateway configurations, and compliance requirements
  • Performance Monitoring: Optimize Power BI performance, monitor usage patterns, and implement capacity planning strategies
  • Integration Management: Ensure seamless connectivity between Power BI, Fabric, and existing systems
  • Design paginated report solutions and email distribution strategies


Required Qualifications:


Essential Requirements:


  • Power BI Mastery: 5+ years of advanced Power BI development including:
  • - Complex RLS implementations across multiple tables
  • - Advanced DAX for enterprise scenarios
  • - Performance optimization for large datasets
  • - Power BI Service administration and deployment pipelines
  • - Proven background in enabling self-serve BI
  • Previous team leadership or team lead experience is a must
  • Microsoft Fabric: Hands-on experience with Fabric workspaces, lakehouses, and pipelines
  • Proven track record on Power BI development including advanced DAX, complex data modeling, and performance optimization
  • Row-Level Security Mastery: Proven experience implementing complex RLS scenarios in enterprise environments
  • Microsoft Fabric Experience: Hands-on experience with Fabric workspaces, data pipelines, and lakehouse architecture
  • SSAS Background: Strong experience with SSAS Tabular for migration planning and semantic model design
  • Communication Excellence: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and conduct effective training sessions
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Analytics: Experience with Power BI integration to Azure ML, embedded analytics, or custom visuals
  • Healthcare Industry: Familiarity with healthcare data requirements and compliance frameworks is an asset
  • Integration Patterns: Power BI and Fabric with other systems – such as SaaS solutions
