Responsibilities
Under the supervision of Prof Mark Baker, the Support/Technical Instructor will be responsible for the assisting in the delivery of engaging programming of assigned courses. The incumbent will work with the supervisor to assist in the development and organizition of course materials/resources required required to deliver the course content. The Instructor may assist in teaching students with a diversity of knowledge, skills and experience.
Qualifications
Education:
- University degree in Physics, Astrophysics, Applied Mathematics or a related field
Experience:
- 1 year transferable experience
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Ability to type equations and prepare documents in LaTeX
- Familiarity with tutoring or other teaching and related document preparation
- Ability to produce high quality graphic images
- Ability to follow processes with high attention to detail
- Presentation skills to deliver engaging and informative presentations that clearly explain information to audiences using appropriate communication channels
- Familiarity with adult learning principles preferred
- Ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
- Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users
- Ability to summarize information and disseminate to others effectively in a timely manner
- Ability to creatively adapt traditional methods, concepts, models or systems to new applications
- Ability to provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills to prioritize and consistently produce high-quality work
- Demonstrated ability to coach and support learners, and to enable individuals to learn
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University's events and activities
