We are looking to hire a Senior People and Culture Advisor based out of our downtown Calgary branch. The Senior People & Culture Advisor assists with developing, managing and coordinating employee policies and programs while providing support and guidance to upper management and employees. This position provides support on a wide range of operational HR responsibilities including coaching, organizational development and effectiveness, compensation, employee engagement/retention, conflict resolution, employee relations and performance management. The Senior People & Culture Advisor provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members and may lead a team of individuals for specific projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide consultative support and “hands on” service to our internal clients covering all P&C related areas such as coaching on performance management, employee relations issues including discipline and termination, policy interpretation and best practices, and other work-related issues.
- Respond to and process routine employee changes as they occur, ensuring communication with all related parties is consistent, courteous and timely.
- Identify ongoing needs that require research, analysis and resolution, to meet the changing requirements of the organization. Partner with senior management to address these needs.
- Lead or participate in specific projects applying project management principles, methodologies, tools and techniques to plan and manage projects. Research and develop solutions to deliver upon project requirements and strategic initiatives.
- Act as the lead in the resolution of complex employee relations issues such as human rights or legal cases.
- Use available data to support and guide clients with employee engagement strategies and tactics.
- Design policies and procedures which influence the effectiveness of People & Culture practices and identify and develop continuous improvements that add value to the organization.
- Actively participate in, and make recommendations towards, organizational initiatives regarding talent acquisition, learning & development, compensation and total rewards, job evaluation, leadership succession, and talent management, continuously ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and P&C business plans.
- Develop strategies to achieve successful outcomes of P&C programs across the organization.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
- All other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Related University degree and typically 7 or more years of related experience; or combination of formal education and experience.
- Knowledge of HR trends, common law and employment standards legislation.
- Professional designation (CPHR) an asset.
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities, deal with ambiguity and work with a variety of clients.
- Ability to coach, mentor and influence at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple time sensitive and confidential issues.
- Work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness.
- Intermedia to Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Ability to anticipate needs and take appropriate action.
