Purpose
The Associate, Research Analytics will design, develop, implement, and maintain analytics reports and dashboards that are used by senior management, Research Analysts & other stakeholders for insights & decision-making.

This position is currently an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work at least 4 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.

Purpose
The Associate, Research Analytics will design, develop, implement, and maintain analytics reports and dashboards that are used by senior management, Research Analysts & other stakeholders for insights & decision-making.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain various key senior management analytics reports and dashboards in SQL Server, Excel and Power BI according to business requirements to provide complete, timely, accurate information for management and Research Analyst teams.
- Assist in developing enhancements for reporting and data aggregation by improving reporting methodology and identifying streamlining opportunities and redesigning as appropriate.
- Timely analysis and resolution of key data issues and assist with new project initiatives.
- Supporting monthly/quarterly executive and management reporting process by compiling and validating information from various sources. Assisting in data interpretation and analysis.
- Provide key support and technical expertise in data management and validations, report automation and trend analysis; Work with technology teams to identify issues and implement solutions.
- Monitor and analyze internal consumption of research to ensure proper allocation of internal resources
- Responsible for supporting MiFID II reporting and regulatory requirements as needed.
- Manage daily client inquiries about the research product and advisory services pricing. Ensure RSA client retention.
- Perform annual account reviews to gauge client relationship quality; make strategy recommendations to management.
- Process incoming institutional broker votes; ensure votes are correctly entered into the scorecard database.
- Alert sales and research staff to upcoming vote period endings to ensure targeted client outreach.
- Issue research invoices for unbundled client accounts.
- Track payment status and collaborate with global finance teams to ensure clearing of funds.
- Manage refunds/credit notes.
- Provide finance teams with up-to-date research invoice logs for ledger reconciliation.
- Produce periodical analytics packages for Research/Sales desk heads.
- Present to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Respond promptly to ad hoc requests/queries from the management team & other stakeholders.
- Assess information and data and make recommendations & suggestions.
- University degree in business (finance or accounting) or a quantitative field (mathematics or statistics)
- Strong presentation skills
- Advanced MS Excel skills (complex nested functions, VBA, ability to work with large datasets and tables)
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau and open-source programming such as SQL, R or Python
- A deep understanding of capital markets, industry regulations and Scotiabank policies that impact Equity Research, Sales & Trading and other related areas such as investment banking
- Strong understanding of institutional clients and their needs in a post-MIFID world
- Strong understanding of the relationship between buy-side/sell-side/corporates
- Team player who can establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders
