About Us


The University Advancement division plays a leading role in strengthening awareness of and support for the University’s mission and goals by leading alumni relations and fundraising efforts across campus and beyond. All departments within the Division build enduring alumni and public trust through understanding and support for Western University in a coordinated campus-wide effort that results in the engagement and funding needed to make an impact. There are 3 departments within the Division – Departments of Development, Alumni Relations and Advancement Operations.

The Advancement Operations department is a partner in the areas of constituent database and technology services, prospect management, research and pipeline, data analytics and storytelling, gift and pledge management, records and document management, and financial reconciliation and reporting. In addition, we provide support to the annual planning process as well as budget management, human resources and facilities support for University Advancement.

Responsibilities


The Online Data Analyst is a key member of University Advancement’s Technology Services team supporting University Advancement’s online presence. The role’s primary focus is to support the Western Advancement team in their online initiatives, events and e-communications. The role analyzes and manages the large volume of data both generated from and needed by online interactions, including; email communications; Alumni and University events; online Alumni and Donor publications; and other special initiatives. The role ensures our data maintains a high level integrity, supports data imports and extracts for online interactions and analyzes data to recommend improvements and efficiencies.

Qualifications


Education:

  • Bachelors Degree; major in an Information Technology related field is preferred

Experience:

  • 3 years working in a web/online environment or in a data analytics related field; in an academic setting is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management web systems (Blackbaud Luminate preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and SQL reporting tools (Crystal Reports preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of database structure with previous hands on experience working with large datasets (Peoplesoft/Oracle preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of Project Management methodologies and techniques
  • Intermediate skill level in MS Excel with the ability to use advanced features such as formulas, pivot tables, and lookups
  • Ability to write clear and concise procedural documentation
  • Excellent communications skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical staff
  • Ability to stay abreast of technological developments
  • Demonstrate ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
  • Knowledge of approaches and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and take initiative and follow through on work assignments
  • A strong record of teamwork with the motivation to work independently with little supervision
