The Safety, Space, and Equipment Coordinator is accountable for coordinating and executing operational activities within the Safety, Space and Equipment portfolio that supports all activities within the Industry Solutions (IS) business unit and in alignment with Industry Solutions' strategic goals. The SSE Coordinator reports to the Lead – Safety, Space, and Equipment (Lead SSE).

The SSE Coordinator enables the various Industry Solutions teams to work together safely, providing consistency, promoting efficiency, and increasing productivity.

The SSE Coordinator also serves as a link between the various IS teams and other NAIT departments such as HSE, Procurement / Distribution, and FMD. It is expected that the SSE Coordinator will work diligently to connect with and Collaborate with these important stakeholders. The SSE Coordinator will integrate information from various sources and provide clarification and guidance to others on processes, policies, and procedures. The SSE Coordinator will be a central source of information and will act as a spokesperson for the coordinated activity.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify operational needs (incl. lab management system & capital planning)
  • Create processes or procedures, aligning to NAIT standards (esp. building standards)
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Report activity in relation to budgets, schedules, & outcomes
  • Facilitate and/or chair meetings (incl. construction / renovation project meetings)
  • Coordinate training & onboarding activity across Industry Solutions (IS)
  • Facilitate problem resolution among stakeholders
  • Create and manage collaborative tools such as Teams & SharePoint sites for IS & SSE
  • Coordinate standardization of business protocols across the various IS teams
  • Gather, create, maintain, and monitor schedules and work plans
  • Design and draft forms and other documents
  • Administer contracts & oversee contractors
  • Monitor and report on activities & outcomes (especially construction/renovation projects)
  • Manage data and records (including project status reporting)



Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of department related content
  • Knowledge of related department, institute and external policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable software
  • Good understanding of general office administration procedures
  • Good understanding of some supervisory methods, techniques and practices
  • Organizational skills
  • General computer skills
  • Ability to initiate, develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage resources.


Qualifications:

  • Related post-secondary diploma
  • Related scientific lab operations work experience (3-5 years)
  • Project Management Experience
  • Training - WHMIS, TDG, SDS, Hazard Assessment, Incident Investigation etc.)
  • Equivalencies may be considered


Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).


Remuneration: $61,997.52 - $83,085.08 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Coordinator l).


This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
