Salary: $63 548.95 ** annual salary based on 40 hour work week**
Contract End Date: August 21, 2026.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR – EARLY LEARNING CHILD CARE CENTRE
PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and over 38 full-day early learning and child care centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

THE POSITION…
The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:
- Assists in establishing and maintaining a safe, warm, and inclusive environment in which a high quality Early Learning and Child, Extended Day and EarlyON programs are implemented.
- Works cooperatively with the Site Director and Program Staff to plan, develop and implement a program of stimulating activities for young children which will promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being.
- Performs the duties of the Site Director in the event of the Site Director's absence.
THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE…
- A degree or diploma in the field of Early Childhood Education required, Family Support Facilitation Certification an asset
- Listed in “Good Standing” with the College of Early Childhood Education (RECE) required
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a variety of child care settings including: before and after school, EarlyON and/or child care centre
- Understanding and knowledge of the Guiding Principles of Family Support
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Familiarity with requirements of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
- Holds a valid Standard First Aid Certificate, with level C CPR
- Valid Food Handlers
- All health requirements (immunizations) to be met in accordance with the CCEYA, Medical Officer of Health and PLASP
- Strong leadership and team management skills, decision making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Ability to plan, organize and implement play-based learning experiences for children and families in accordance with the HighScope Curriculum and in accordance with Ministry requirements
- Physically able to assist children and able to set up, move and carry program equipment.
- A flexible and willing attitude to help families and colleagues
- Strong knowledge of all relevant policies and procedures
