What You’ll Be Doing:
Reporting to the Division Manager, the Production Planner will play a vital role in driving operational efficiency within the Machine Shop, managing production schedule, workflows, and supporting the implementation of a new OMS Planning Module. This position offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to MacGregors’ ongoing success while gaining exposure to complex, high-value manufacturing processes to ensure smooth and efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate production workflow for multiple custom machining projects.
- Plan and prioritize operations to optimize efficiency and minimize delays.
- Estimate materials, equipment, and labor required to meet production demand.
- Evaluate purchase orders and translate them into detailed production schedules.
- Issue purchase orders for required parts and materials; create and release work orders.
- Actively coordinate with the Production Supervisor on shop floor activities.
- Monitor inventory levels and support just-in-time procurement practices.
- Address and resolve production issues quickly to maintain schedule integrity.
- Propose improvements to reduce costs and enhance product quality.
- Adjust production schedules as needed to meet customer deadlines.
- Compile and deliver regular production status and performance reports.
- Assist in the implementation and optimization of the new OMS Planning Module.
What We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate will bring proven experience as a Production Planner, preferably within a machine shop or manufacturing environment, along with a solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and resource management. Proficiency in ERP and MRP systems, coupled with strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, is essential. A post-secondary education in supply chain, business, or a related discipline is preferred, and CPIM certification would be considered an asset. The successful candidate will be comfortable reading and interpreting technical drawings and manufacturing documentation and will demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach are key, while familiarity with 5S and continuous improvement practices is considered an advantage.
