Job Overview
The ESG Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Deep Sky Climate meets its sustainability, compliance, and operational excellence objectives. This includes leading the development and implementation of ESG strategies, managing sustainability programs, and ensuring alignment with local and international regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will drive best practices in sustainability and safety while fostering a culture of responsibility, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Develop & Lead
• Define and implement ESG strategies aligned with Deep Sky Climate’s vision and long-term goals.
• Monitor emerging trends and integrate best practices to position Deep Sky Climate as an ESG leader.
• Build strategic partnerships with organizations and agencies to advance sustainability and safety goals.
Reporting & Compliance
• Establish and manage ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., TCFD, SASB, GRI) and prepare reports for stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and social regulations, including climate-related disclosure requirements.
Operational Sustainability & Risk Management
• Lead initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint across operations, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable procurement.
• Conduct environmental risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for all project activities, particularly in high-risk operations.
• Design and implement management systems to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
• Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations to uphold health and safety standards and ensure the well-being of employees and contractors.
ESG Integration, Culture & Continuous Improvement
• Develop and deliver training programs that promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG considerations across all project phases.
• Analyze performance data, set benchmarks, and drive continuous improvement in ESG outcomes.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in ESG strategy implementation, preferably in energy, industrial, or infrastructure sectors.
• Proven track record of developing and executing ESG initiatives with measurable impact.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability metrics, and ESG best practices.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and HSE program management in Canada, particularly Alberta, is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with ESG frameworks such as TCFD, SASB, GRI.
• Ability to work onsite 1–2 times per week as needed.
Preferred Skills and Experience
• Certifications such as CRSP, CSP, ISO 14001, or LEED are highly desirable.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning abilities.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement and training.
