The Opportunity:

Join a dynamic team where you’ll play a hands-on role in delivering a successful project in Port Hope!

In this position, you’ll support field engineering activities on active construction sites, ensuring work aligns with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. You’ll collaborate with project managers, design teams, and contractors to resolve technical issues, conduct site inspections, and document progress.

Your role will also involve reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders, while helping maintain project schedules and budgets. Your contributions to project meetings and risk assessments will be key!

This opportunity is to join the WSP team responsible for the execution and construction of the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI). The PHAI represents the federal government’s response to the community-requested solution for the cleanup and local, long-term, safe management of historic low-level radioactive waste in the municipalities of Port Hope and Clarington.

Please note we will consider candidates based in various locations throughout Canada, but this opportunity is based on-site 5 days/week at the project site in Port Hope, Ontario.

What You Can Expect To Do Here

  • Support the execution of field engineering tasks on active project sites.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, design teams, and contractors to resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct site inspections, prepare field reports, and document construction progress.
  • Assist in reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Promote and enforce WSP’s health and safety policies on-site.

What You’ll Bring To WSP

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • More than 2 years of relevant field or construction experience (co-op/internship experience may be considered).
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or project management software is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be eligible for CNL Reliability Status security clearance (individual must have 3 full concurrent years of current, verifiable history in Canada, USA, UK, New Zealand and/or Australia)
