Job Summary

A department sales manager is actively engaged in both selling as well as managing department staff. The position is responsible to plan and organize the sales strategy for the market and allocate department resources to achieve sales and operational goals and objectives

Duties

  • Set appropriate department and individual employee sales targets and personal objectives.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction to promote repeat business and maintain Allmar’s positive reputation in the market to be a distributor and employer of choice.
  • Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers.
  • Achieve personal sales objectives through cold-calls and in person visits to customers and job sites.
  • Prepare presentations, quotes/proposals, and sales contracts as applicable.
  • Actively coach and manage department employees on the achievement of their individual goals.
  • Provide oversight on all sales projects to ensure contracts have acceptable terms, conditions and appropriate profit margins as per company guidelines.
  • Be aware of market conditions and make necessary adjustments to quotes to remain competitive and secure new business while maintaining profitability.
  • Resolve customer issues promptly and tactfully through proper evaluation of the situation and appropriate corrective action.
  • Ensure all department staff adhere to Allmar’s policies and procedures and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Maintain a calm, tactful and direct manner in internal and external conflict resolution situations.
  • Establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate activities with other work units or departments.
  • Track and provide oversight on all projects to ensure that all orders are processed as accurately and efficiently as possible to reduce errors, maintain profit margins and provide a high level of customer service.
  • Perform employee evaluations prior to probationary completion date and annually thereafter and inform executive management of progress and/or personnel issues.
  • Create personal development plans for each employee for their ongoing development and succession planning into higher rated positions.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety policies and procedures are strictly adhered to at all times and cultivate a safety first attitude
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other Department Managers and employees to ensure there is an efficient flow of information to drive internal efficiencies and develop a positive, cohesive team.

  • Hardware product knowledge and experience
  • Sound understanding of the hardware, door and building construction industry sector
  • Knowledge of building code requirements pertaining to life safety, security and electronics

  • Skilled in the use of Allmar’s transaction systems such as Avaware/Navision

Education And Experience Required

  • Accreditation as an Architectural Hardware Consultant is required
  • Minimum 8 years experience in the Hardware/Door and Construction Industry
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc) and Comsense/Avaware
