A growing, impact-driven company is looking for a new Director of Construction & Project Delivery. This confidential search is for a key leadership role that blends strategic oversight with operational execution, and is core to the company’s mission of modernizing and improving building performance nationwide.
We’re looking for a high-performing engineering-trained leader who can wear steel toes and a hard hat, build scalable systems, and drive results, all while coaching a team, owning client relationships, and collaborating across internal teams to deliver integrated solutions. The Role in a Nutshell
You’ll lead the delivery of complex building upgrade projects across Canada, managing a multidisciplinary team that includes engineers, project managers, and trades. You’ll bring a deep understanding of building retrofits, construction best practices, and scalable systems. You’ll own project performance, drive client satisfaction, and play a hands-on role in developing the team and processes to hit ambitious targets.
You’ll also collaborate with business development and other internal teams to help identify / close deals and translate field experience into smarter tools; bringing structure, insight, and leadership to a fast-moving, high-purpose environment.
What You’ll Do:
Construction & Execution Leadership
- Oversee the execution of building upgrade projects, ensuring quality, safety, timelines, and budget.
- Lead and mentor a team of project managers, tradespeople (in-house and sub), and engineers.
- Be on-site when needed, especially during onboarding, troubleshooting, and big wins.
- Solve problems proactively, and help your team do the same.
Strategy, Structure & Scale
- Build repeatable systems and processes for estimating, execution, close-out, and communication with clients.
- Drive integration with internal teams to streamline operations.
- Champion continuous improvement with a mindset toward volume, scale, and clarity.
Client & Revenue Ownership
- Build strong relationships with clients, ensuring every touchpoint reinforces value and trust.
- Support business development by helping to scope work, close deals, and deliver excellence.
- Instill revenue ownership within the construction team, this role is critical to meeting targets.
Team Leadership & Development
- Evaluate the current team, identify gaps, coach performance, and make changes when necessary.
- Recruit, train, and scale a team of high-performing PMs, engineers, and trades.
- Ensure every team member is aligned, accountable, and growing.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Share field insights to support the development of operational tools and systems.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure cohesion and alignment across the organization.

Your Background Likely Includes:
- Solid experience in construction/engineering roles, including people management.
- Experience with retrofit projects and understanding the complexity they bring (e.g., legacy systems, surprises, sequencing).
- Engineering degree (civil, mechanical, electrical preferred); P.Eng or PMP a plus.
- Deep knowledge of managing trades, PMs, consultants, and clients.
- Budget, schedule, and quality control experience across a wide project size range.
- Bonus: experience in the sustainability space and/or mid-sized companies.
Working Style:
- Hybrid work model with site visits ~1x/week and national travel ~1–2x/month (especially in year one).

- Salary: $110K–$135K base + performance-based upside (flexible for the right person).
