Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor plant operations and make necessary adjustments as required to maintain efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all wastewater equipment, including pumps, blowers, motors, conveyors, and filters to ensure proper functioning.
  • Perform necessary testing on wastewater, sludge, and cake. Analyzing the results to assess treatment performance.
  • Adjust valves, pumps, and chemical dosages to ensure water purity levels are satisfactory - as needed.
  • Optimize chemical usage to achieve optimal treatment results.
  • Update plant logs with operational records, changes, concerns, and review chemical inventory.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filters, and all indoor and outdoor work areas.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies, including OHSA regulations.
  • Monitor instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and ensure systems are operating within prescribed limits.
  • Read and interpret data from flow meters, gauges, and effluent quality testing to identify necessary changes and improvements.
  • Operates all equipment to do wastewater treatment and sludge handling.
  • Add chemicals and adjust feed rates as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Knowledge & Skills Of This Role

  • Wastewater treatment knowledge and/or other environmental sciences.
  • Flexible work schedule to work 8-12 hour continental shift rotation, which can also result to on-call, statutory holiday, including overtime above 44 hours per week.
  • Must be able to meet minimum physical dexterity requirements of this position: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, stair and ladder climbing, working at heights, working above water levels, work in all weather conditions, etc.
  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability and willingness to learn in a safety focused team based environment.
  • Proficient organizational skills, demonstrated ability to prioritizing tasks, manage time effectively, while effectively communicating.
  • Strong organizational skills, data/record keeping, reporting, and some basic mathematical and computer proficiency required.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, cooperation, and teamwork at all times, including cross-training others.
  • Demonstrate levelheaded autonomy to make decisions and take action when senior departmental employees and/or manager is unavailable.
