About The Role

We’re looking for a Manager, Data Governance to join our growing team!

The Data Governance Manager provides guidance and support to the company for better application of policies, standards and processes related to the use, data quality and protection of privacy.

What You'll Do Here

  • Set strategy, build roadmap, manage budget, build execution plans, communication plans, in alignment with the Enterprise Data Governance vision. Ensure planning and progress of all aspects of the delivery.
  • Lead execution for delivery of data governance capabilities and solutions across various business groups, in alignment with enterprise standards, privacy and operational risk.
  • Lead a medium sized team, developing productivity and engagement, fostering the development of personal and technical skills, as well as collaboration.
  • Manage stakeholders and maintain good relationships with internal and external collaborators with efficient and effective communication. Collaborate at all levels including senior leadership across organization.
  • Conduct maturity assessment of organization, build data governance maturity roadmap, build and execute the plan according to roadmap.
  • Develop standards, processes and frameworks to support data governance guidelines in the organization. Ensure implementation of standards and frameworks is in a practical manner.
  • Build and execute rollout plans for data governance capabilities. Onboard various partners with proper change management and training plans.
  • Develop, track and measure value of data governance solutions via KPI’s and KRIs.
  • Report and present to various senior executives on progress, risks and issues and future plans/strategy in relation to the data governance mandate.
  • Oversee key vendor partners and related data management/enablement tooling and processes.

What You Bring To The Table

  • University degree or post-graduate in a data management field, computer science or equivalent.
  • 10 years of experience in data analytics / data governance / data protection / data security / data retention / Cybersecurity.
  • Familiar with the concepts of PIA, PII, PCI, HIPAA, PIPEDA.
  • 5 or more years of management experience.
  • Solid experience in building roadmaps, framework and processes.
  • Background of enterprise-wide system implementations with the lens of data governance. Understanding of Data Owner – Data Steward – Data Custodian model.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence executive stakeholders across the organization
  • Experience in data retention and lifecycle management (an asset).
  • Have worked in a company that has implemented or participated in a data governance program (an asset).
  • Experience with and thorough understanding of enterprise level change management strategies.
  • An outcome oriented, systems thinking approach to solving sophisticated and ambiguous problems to generate reusable solutions.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Comfortable working in complex environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Accountability and ownership.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required (French and English). Need to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
