The Department of Development and Alumni Engagement is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional fundraiser to join our team. This role is responsible for securing major gifts in support of institutional priorities and will also take a lead role in key donor engagement initiatives and fundraising communications campaigns. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated relationship builder with a track record in fundraising, a flair for communications, and a passion for making a meaningful impact through philanthropy for the University of Prince Edward Island.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with department colleagues to develop and implement effective strategies aligned with UPEI’s fundraising priorities
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations in support of the university’s mission
  • In collaboration with the senior development team, identify and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and current donors with major gift capacity, ensuring consistent movement through the donor cycle (identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship) to create and maximize financial contributions and enhance relationships between donors and UPEI
  • Prepare and present compelling funding proposals and presentations that align donor interests with institutional priorities
  • Communicate UPEI’s mission, vision, and impact through strong storytelling and relationship-building strategies
  • Ensure accurate and timely management of donor and prospect information and stewardship activities in collaboration with colleagues
  • Lead and support donor-focused marketing and communications initiatives, including writing content, coordinating digital outreach, and developing stewardship materials
  • Plan and execute integrated fundraising campaigns such as Giving Tuesday, including campaign design, timeline management, and performance reporting
  • Collaborate with the university’s marketing and communications team to align donor communications with brand standards and messaging
  • Support faculty and departmental partners in managing in-bound gifts and maintaining positive donor relations
  • Lead special projects and events assigned that enhance donor engagement and institutional advancement
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum four-year undergraduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three years of experience in major gift fundraising or capital campaign work, preferably within a post-secondary or non-profit setting
  • Demonstrated success in managing donor relationships and securing philanthropic gifts
  • Strong writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge is considered a strong asset
  • Experience planning and executing donor campaigns and communications (ex: Giving Tuesday, year-end appeals, donor events)
  • Knowledge of digital marketing tools (ex: Mailchimp, Canva, social media scheduling platforms) and ability to produce engaging donor-focused content
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a dynamic team environment
  • High level of emotional intelligence, professionalism, discretion, and judgment
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and donor-centered fundraising
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation considered an asset
