Windsor Regional Hospital
Windsor Regional Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Ontario, serving a population of about 400,000 people in Windsor and Essex County. The hospital provides acute care services and operates two campuses. WRH has over 4300 employees, 550 professional staff, 400 volunteers, and more than 150 medical school students and resident physicians. WRH is the regional provider of advanced care and provides the following services for the entire former Erie St. Clair LHIN: Complex Trauma, Renal Dialysis, Cardiac Care, Stroke and Neurosurgery Intensive Care, Acute Mental Health, Family Birthing Centre, Neonatal Intensive Care, Paediatric services, and Regional Cancer Services.
The Ontario government has approved planning for a new single-site, state-of-the-art acute care hospital for Windsor and Essex County. The New Windsor-Essex Hospitals System is a once-in-a-lifetime, major system reform that will transform hospital services in Windsor-Essex. The collaborative and local plan will provide patients with the right care in the right place and time for future generations.
Reporting to the President & CEO, the Chief Nursing Executive and Clinical Vice President (CNE/VP) is responsible for oversight and delivery of high-quality patient care, focusing on safety, patient satisfaction and positive patient outcomes. The CNE/VP has a broad operational portfolio which includes Critical Care, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging Services, Patient Relations and Professional Practice.
The CNE/VP will work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team to: manage and achieve financial and strategic objectives; ensure adequate staffing levels and use of resources; develop policies governing nursing practice and operations; lead initiatives for professional development and training; foster collaboration with senior leaders, professional staff and others; ensure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and accreditation standards; represent the interests of the nursing profession and patient care within the organization and with external stakeholders and community partners.
The incumbent will assess, direct and implement quality, patient-centered care within the clinical programs within the portfolio. This includes developing objectives for and monitoring actual departmental performance in areas including patient experience, employee performance, financial management, physician relations and interdepartmental communication and relations. The incumbent will collaborate with colleagues across the organization to positively impact the delivery of care, system-wide.
With a minimum of ten years of progressive leadership in multiple service lines at a Vice President or Divisional Director level in an acute care setting, the preferred candidate will bring a demonstrated record of accomplishment as an effective administrator who has created and managed change successfully. An outstanding communicator, embodying integrity, authenticity, and WRH’s values, the preferred candidate will possess the ability to work with a wide range of constituents, internal and external to the organization. Possessing professional experience in both academics and research, the preferred candidate will also have personal academic preparation at a Master’s (required)/PhD (preferred) level. Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required. The ability to communicate in the French Language would be an asset.
