The Data & AI Cluster at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam, Germany, is inviting applications for two full-time postdoctoral research positions in Data and Artificial Intelligence. These positions are available immediately for a duration of 36 months, with a competitive annual salary of 72,000 EUR. Sponsorship for a work visa can be provided.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to conduct independent, cutting-edge research in the following areas:
– Scalable, data-efficient, and/or energy-efficient learning and optimization algorithms
– Physics-based AI and machine learning algorithms
– Interpretable and explainable AI
– Machine learning theory
– AI for science
– AI for social good
– Complex data analysis and intelligence
– Database systems and architectures
– Data quality and preparation
– Data integration and management
– Stream processing and spatial analytics
Requirements
– A doctoral degree (or near completion) in computer science or a closely related field
– Excellent command of spoken and written English (working language is English; German is desirable but not required)
– Strong writing, presentation, and analytical skills
– Demonstrated research experience and a publication record appropriate to career stage
– Ability to work independently and self-motivation
– Experience translating research outputs to societal impact is preferred
– A research agenda that intersects with or complements multiple groups at HPI
