At Summit Terrace, where luxury meets comfort in senior living, we are committed to delivering an exceptional culinary experience. We are currently seeking a Cook to bring quality, care, and creativity to our dining services team.
About the Role:
As a Cook at Summit Terrace, you will play a key role in creating and serving high-quality meals for residents and their guests. From elegant dinners to special events, you will prepare meals using standardized recipes, ensure portion control, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment. You’ll also assist in ordering and receiving supplies and may supervise kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals according to established menus and recipes with an emphasis on presentation, taste, and nutrition
- Utilize production sheets and follow portion and waste control standards
- Supervise kitchen staff when required and address concerns promptly
- Assist with menu planning, purchasing, and inventory control
- Support ongoing quality improvement and food safety compliance
- Interact with residents and guests in a courteous, professional manner
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with policy
- Work scheduled and replacement shifts, including weekends and holidays
Qualifications:
- Safe Food Handler’s Certificate (required)
- Chef training or Culinary Management diploma (required)
- Familiarity with Canada’s Food Guide, therapeutic diets, and current nutritional standards (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of cooking experience in a hotel, restaurant, or institutional setting
- Ability to supervise staff and contribute to a team-oriented environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
- Physically able to lift up to 35 lbs
