Your role:
The Payroll Consultant provides expert payroll support and advisory services to client organizations, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing. This role works closely with client stakeholders to understand their payroll needs, resolve issues, and optimize payroll operations. The consultant also supports benefits administration and ensures alignment with regulatory requirements and client-specific policies.

Your role:
The Payroll Consultant provides expert payroll support and advisory services to client organizations, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing. This role works closely with client stakeholders to understand their payroll needs, resolve issues, and optimize payroll operations. The consultant also supports benefits administration and ensures alignment with regulatory requirements and client-specific policies.
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws and employment standards.
- Collaborate with client HR and finance teams to gather payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and meet processing deadlines.
- Advise clients on payroll best practices, legislative updates, and system optimization.
- Support benefits administration, including enrollments, deductions, and reporting.
- Conduct payroll audits and ensure proper documentation and record keeping.
- Assist clients with year-end activities such as T4s, reconciliations, and government filings.
- Provide training and support to client teams on payroll systems and procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and industry trends.
Technical Skills
- Payroll Systems – Proficiency in platforms like QuickBooks, Wage Point, ADP, Ceridian, Workday, or Pay works.
- Excel – Strong skills in formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- HRIS & ERP Tools – Familiarity with integrated HR and finance systems.
- Tax & Compliance – Knowledge of payroll legislation, remittances, and reporting.
- Benefits Administration – Experience managing deductions, enrollments, and provider coordination.
- Reporting – Ability to generate payroll reports and year-end documentation (e.g., T4s, ROEs).
- Data Security – Understanding of privacy standards and secure data handling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of employment law and Payroll best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with employees at all levels.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
- PCP certification or equivalent is a plus
- Experience with HR software (e.g., HRIS, payroll systems)
- 3+ years of experience in Payroll and Benefits Administration
- Experience in handling a variety of employee payroll & benefits issues
- Client-focused with strong relationship-building skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
